Update - General Info about MVGS Training and Education
Posted: 02/04/2016 - 2:19 pm
Greetings.
Here's some general information about MVGS's training and education classes.

-Classes are free.

-We prefer that members attend the classes, but anyone actually can attend them.  We won't turn you away.

-All classes are taught at the Hollin Hall Senior Center.  Specific rooms and times are indicated with each class.
Due to the Covid-19 shutdown, we are currently beginning to offer some classes via Zoom.  Those will be indicated on the website with the class' entry.

-You may sign up by using the link on the individual class entries, or by signing up on the sheets at the general MVGS meetings or, if nothing else works, separately emailing the training coordinator at albreedlove@comcast.net.

-Due to the Covid-19 shutdown, Linda's workshops won't be taught until HHSC re-opens.  They won't be done virtually.  The workshops taught by Linda MacLachlan on the 1st Monday of the month require you, in addition to signing up for the workshop itself,  to register before you come to class with either FamilySearch.org or Find-a-grave.com - the class description has a reminder to do this.  Having an id and password allows you to actually enter/edit information onto those systems.

-Some of Linda's workshops have handouts.  They will either be attached to the class entry, or will be emailed directly to you before the class.  Either way, please print them out and bring them with you to class.  She doesn't bring copies with her.

-Handouts for the "regular" classes - if a handout has been sent to you before the class, please print them out and bring them with you.  Neither the instructor nor the training coordinator bring extra copies for class participants.

-If you have any suggestions for additional class topics, please either add them in an entry on this forum site, or email Amy Breedlove at albreedlove@comcast.net.  We're ALWAYS looking for new ideas!

-If you would like to volunteer to teach a class, please email Amy at albreedlove@comcast.net.  The training coordinator does all the administrative and logistics work - all you have to do is prepare your talk and give it :)

Thank you and we hope to see you in a class or workshop, either in person or on Zoom.
