Mount Vernon Genealogical Society meets the third Tuesday of each month at 1 PM in Room 112 at Hollin Hall Senior Center, 1500 Shenandoah Road, Alexandria, Virginia. See map. Visitors are always welcome to attend one monthly meeting before deciding to join MVGS. Our dues for 12 months are $30 per individual and $35 for a family.
A majority of our meetings are video-taped and available to members by viewing the program on the Members Only section of the Society's website. Handouts for programs are also posted in the Members Only section.
Our MVGS Library has an extensive collection of genealogical reference books, periodicals and CDs. Along the Library's far wall, seven computers provide access to a variety of genealogical research sites. Of note, we are a Family Search Affiliate Library where researchers can access locked records. Researchers can download information to their own USB flash drives and we also have several printers. A conference or reading table is in the center of the room.
The MVGS Research Library is open from Tuesday through Thursday, every week from 10 AM until 2 PM. It is closed early at noon on the third Tuesday for our monthly MVGS meeting down stairs. Our facility will also be closed several days around federal holidays, Christmas and New Year's day.
To check for closings or delays, visit our website "Contact Us" tab at www.mvgenealogy.org or call the Senior Center at 703-765-4573 to verify closing information.
